First time at such huge conference, completely on my own – can you imagine? Please bear with me, it’s been a long day and I almost run out of my business cards.
There are about 600 people from 34 countries here and they do a pretty good job in representing the status quo in outsourcing industry: a lot of guys from India (they are vendors), many Americans (they are advisors), many Europeans (mainly legal consulting), rest are Asians and a couple of companies from Africa.
We are all at a Disney’s resort and it is full with people on their vacations with families and kids. We look kinda awkward walking in suits around them.
So, how is the industry doing? Looks like it is doing great. There is a great number of providers of all kinds in every place of the world: Ghana and Malaysia have been particularly active. There is no shortage of work to be outsourced. If you happen to think that nobody needs your services, then you are doing something definitely wrong.
Two main areas of outsourcing presented here are BPO and ITO and as the first networking session revealed, everyone is concerned about transparency, trust, and cooperation.
