Last weekend (24-25 November) we didn’t celebrate Thanksgiving: we don’t have it in Russia. Instead, we demonstrated our skills in the Counter Strike Tournament held in Novosibirsk for the second time. Our rivals were about a dozen Novosibirsk IT companies. Sibers demonstrated a very high result taking the II place in the most difficult group, Masters, yielding the championship only to one company, Dixis.
After Sibers’ successful debut in the 1 tournament, we decided to improve our position and ensure our qualification through a better organized team and more coordinated style of playing. It was a kind of return match and turned quite a success.
Sibers team included: Reshetov Dmitry, Belyakov Maxim, Mastikhin Anton, Kupershtokh Alexey, with Grigoryev Valery, Gordienko Andrey, Evsyukov Andrey as reserves.
As for the tournament itself, the shortlisting was quite a severe procedure, but it resulted in a more interesting competition. After games in 3 groups of 4 teams each, they were divided into two classes – Masters and No Profi. In our group Sibers outplayed CFT and Mega yielding to Dixis and qualified for the Masters.
On the second day Sibers conquered MirCyber in the quarterfinals (16:1) and KiS in the semifinals (16:9 – this game was a tougher one) and encountered Dixis in the final. After active resistance we were leading in the first part of the game but failed the second one with the final score 16:12 to Dixis. The result is the second place in very tense struggle.
Our special congratulations to Maxim Belyakov, who took the first place in the individual championship (1×1)!
The resulting table looks as follows:
Masters – 1. Dixis; 2. Sibers; 3. KiS
No Profi – 1. CFT; 2. Arsisitech; 3. academ.org
All in all, we are satisfied with this year’s achievements and are mastering our skills looking forwards to the next tournament.
