Here we begin a number of posts for y’all to learn some Russian to make communication easier. Really, if we all speak English, why wouldn’t you learn some basic phrases in Russian to use them in our everyday chats?
Let’s start with Greetings. A usual way to greet someone in Russian is just to say Привет! [preev’et]. Lately, it’s become very popular to say Превед! [prev’ed] instead of Привет! The reason for this is a modified by Russian bloggers picture of John Lurie “Bear Surprise”. Instead of “Surprise”, the bear says “Превед!” to the making-out couple.
The word превед became so popular, that people have even come up with special smileys for that – o/, which resembles the bear with his arms raised.
So, now you know how to initialize talks with our sales people, project managers and customer care managers – привет! or (less formal) превед!
Be careful with this word “Превед”. Some peopel hate it and consider unceremonious behaviour
Preved, krosavchegi !!! =)
